About Sara

Hi, I’m Sara (she/her), and I’m glad you found my therapy practice.

I am a clinical social worker who has been working with children, adolescents, adults, and families since 2006. In 2011, I began specializing in gender, first with children and adolescents, and then with adults. I have worked in two health system-based gender clinics where I had the pleasure of working as part of a multidisciplinary team to serve trans people across the lifespan. Helping people access high quality gender affirming care is incredibly meaningful to me, and I feel honored to be able to do it.

I have created and taught dozens of educational sessions on trans health-related topics, primarily to healthcare providers. I have co-authored two publications on trans health topics.

I received my undergraduate degree from Kalamazoo College and my MSW from Smith College. My work is relational, feminist, antiracist, intersectional, and focused on dismantling systems of oppression. I believe that therapy can be transformational. My hope is that people who work with me feel seen, heard, and valued. I use relational, supportive, cognitive-behavioral, acceptance-based, and solution-focused interventions based on the needs of each individual.

In my free time, I cook, bake, run, read, dream about getting a dog, and watch videos of all kinds of ridiculous things, including lawn care companies clearing overgrown lots. (Why do those videos suck me in? They’re so satisfying.)

I hope you will reach out with questions or if you would like to schedule an appointment. I would be delighted to meet you.
